VCU Technology Services will be performing routine maintenance on Banner Production beginning 12/02/2023 starting at 10PM EST.
You may not be able to access Banner Production Admin Pages, eServices, and Faculty Grade Entry for a short period of time, but we’ll have things back up and running as soon as possible to minimize disruptions.

Both the VCU and MCV campuses have experienced power blips that have impacted devices supporting the VCU network. Network Services is monitoring and will be responding to locations that don't recover when the power is restored. A follow up message will be posted once power has stabilized and all devices are back up.
Power appears to be stable and all network devices are up and operational at this time.
On Sunday November 5th starting at 6pm Network Services will be replacing EOL gear in Harris Hall. This work will create a temporary loss of connectivity for site to site VPN connections such as RPD, AWS, T4, LabCorp, and Qatar. The CenturyLink ISP connection will also experience a temporary loss of connectivity however internet connectivity is not expected to be disrupted.
The Harris Hall EOL replacement was successfully completed.
Network Services is aware of network (internet) slowness campus wide and we are actively investigating. A follow up post will be made once we have more information.

On 9/8/2023 11 PM - 09/9/2023 5 AM our primary internet carrier has a need to repair fiber cable that will cause our primary internet connect to go down. During this time, we will switchover to the secondary provider but during this change there will be a momentary outage.

The VCU Steam Plant is currently experiencing a network outage. This outage also impacts the VCU Physical Plant Administration Building - 1050 Oliver Hill Way and Physical Plant Department Storage Facility - 1070 Oliver Hill Way. There is currently no ETA for service restoration. A ticket has been opened for the ISP providing connectivity to the VCU Steam Plant.
Network connectivity has been restored to the VCU Steam Plant and all buildings are back up and running.
Network Services will be replacing a core router at Harris Hall on Friday August 18th starting at 9pm. A network outage is expected to be minimal as the network cores are redundantly designed, however there could be a brief reconvergence. This maintenance should be completed by 1am August 19th.

Network Services will be upgrading code for the Main Hospital router on Tuesday August 8th starting at 11pm. All affected buildings will not have internet (data) or wireless during this maintenance. The following buildings will be impacted:
Main Hospital
School of Pharmacy (Robert Blackwell Smith Building)
Massey Cancer Center
This maintenance should be completed by 1am Wednesday August 9th.

Network Services will be upgrading code for the Snead router on Monday July 24th starting at 11pm. All affected buildings will not have internet (data) or wireless doing this maintenance. The following buildings will be impacted:

This maintenance should be completed by 12:30am Tuesday July 25th.
Network Services has successfully upgraded the Snead router.
Network Services will be replacing a core router at Harris Hall on Sunday July 23rd starting at 6pm. A network outage is expected to be minimal as the network cores are redundantly designed, however there could be a brief reconvergence. All of the PE's that connect to the Harris core also have redundant connections with the Poca core. This maintenance should be completed by 11pm.
Network Services has successfully completed the Harris core router replacement.
