Information notice Increased Phishing Risks For VCU Community

VCU is seeing a rapid increase in the sophistication of phishing tactics targeting our community. Recent scams are no longer limited to fake password pages. Attackers are now using more convincing methods, including fake party invitations, fake document signing requests, and legitimate Microsoft sign-in links.

We have observed two recent patterns that are worth noting:

Scheduled maintenances

VCU Technology Services will be performing routine maintenance beginning on 6/17/2026 starting at 6PM.

You may not be able to access the Tableau Server production environment during this maintenance period, but we’ll have things back up and running as soon as possible to minimize disruptions.

Scheduled maintenance TOC DataCenter - PE Router Software Upgrade from 2026-06-17 21:00 EDT to 2026-06-17 23:59 EDT
[Scheduled]

As part of planned infrastructure maintenance, the Network Services team will perform a software upgrade on the active Provider Edge router located at the TOC Data Center. Prior to the upgrade, all active services will be migrated to the Harris Hall Data Center PE router to minimize impact.
Two short interruptions are anticipated during this maintenance window: the first occurring during the initial service failover, and the second when services are returned to the TOC Data Center PE router...
