Information notice Increased Phishing Risks For VCU Community

VCU is seeing a rapid increase in the sophistication of phishing tactics targeting our community. Recent scams are no longer limited to fake password pages. Attackers are now using more convincing methods, including fake party invitations, fake document signing requests, and legitimate Microsoft sign-in links.

We have observed two recent patterns that are worth noting:

Scheduled maintenance DHCP migration MCV campus from 2026-05-18 18:00 EDT to 2026-05-18 23:00 EDT

[Monitoring]

Due to an unplanned event, it is causing us to proceed with the MCV DHCP migration tonight 5/14/2026 vs the scheduled day of 5/18.

Scheduled maintenance Emergency Replacement of Infoblox DHCP/DNS Serveres from 2026-05-18 18:00 EDT to 2026-05-18 23:00 EDT

[Scheduled]

VCU Network Services will be migrating DNS (internal and external) and DHCP services from Infoblox to EfficientIP on Monday May 18th starting at 6pm. The replacement servers have been pre-configured and tested in advance to minimize disruption.

While network impact is expected to be minimal, users may experience brief interruptions to DHCP services during the transition to production. Some devices may require a reboot to obtain updated network settings after the change is complete.
